Introducing the new Virtual Assistant for Legal Diaries

My name is Bea (Beatrice Holt) and I am the newly appointed Virtual Assistant for Legal Diaries.  This role enables me to complete tasks such as writing blogs, carrying out the behind-the-scenes research for the Legal Diaries posts and communicating with candidates for Legal Diaries stories.  By working alongside the Founder of Legal Diaries, Dannii, I have been able to learn so much already about the work required in setting up a website connected with multiple social media accounts and I am so excited to see what is in store for Legal Diaries.

Legal Journey

As for my legal journey so far, I completed my BA (Hons) English Literature degree at The University of Sussex last summer and started the LLM LLP at BPP University in September 2020.  My aim is to commence the BTC this September with the aim of becoming a Barrister and joining the criminal or family Bar.  Although my journey into law has not been a straightforward route, I have found the skills I acquired during my English Literature degree to be invaluable and would encourage any prospective law students to not be deterred if they have an alternative undergraduate degree – the additional skills you gain provide you with super handy talking points during interviews too!

Legal Experience

My interest in Law developed through work experience and my active engagement with the UK judicial system, I have been able to shadow legal professionals including barristers, solicitors and a Judge. By encountering different fields and job roles within the legal sector, I now have a wider understanding of how the system functions.  In addition to these experiences, during the first UK COVID-19 lockdown, I joined the ‘Young Legal Ladies’ as their Events Marketing Manager and have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of such an inspirational group of women whose ethos is to empower women in the legal profession.  The YLL team is growing by the day and I am so excited to see what the future holds for the Young Legal Ladies (@younglegalladies).

If anybody has any questions about my route into law, then please feel free to message me on Instagram or LinkedIn.
