Law Graduate: Bronwyn Dunleavy

My name is Bronwyn Dunleavy. I am from Mayo but now live in Galway. I am a graduate of National University Ireland Galway. I graduated with an Upper Second-Class Honours. I hope to someday specialise in Health Law.

I am the first person in my immediate family to pursue a career in law. My interest in law sparked having completed work experience in a local Solicitor’s office when I was 16. I became fascinated with the law around health and mental health and this interest continued into college.

I am currently working part-time whilst studying for my FE1 exams. I hope to have these all sat by March 2022 but they are no easy feat so this may change. I was unfortunate to graduate into a pandemic and have had little luck in breaking the legal field so far. My own struggle has inspired me to grow an Instagram page to make a relatable, but informative place where law students have simple and accessible information at their fingertips regrading what comes after graduating with a law degree.

While the FE1 exams are tough I have enjoyed revisiting areas of law which I admittedly did not pay much attention to while in college. Outside of academia my legal education has benefitted me in the sense I have learnt how important attention to detail is when dealing with issues of others and that it is important to not just jump to a conclusion when faced with a problem-think it out!

My advice to anybody studying law is that if you wish to qualify as a Solicitor just know that there are a lot of sacrifices to be made on your journey but it will all be worth it once you reach the end.
